Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his future following another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the team's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received a lot of support from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the belief. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

Slot highlighted recurring weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period such as this with performances this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to the top, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it needs to change.”
