Brian Eno Encourages Backing to Get Together for Palestine Song to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort aims to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an surprise number one.
“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely disappointed if it fails to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.
“The song holds a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Star-Studded Lineup
The song was recorded following a major charity concert held in late summer. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the performance was cut from the show due to the event running long.
The notable list of musicians featured on Lullaby features a group of prominent voices from the industry. All participated in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a considerable total for charitable causes.
Production and Release
Lullaby was crafted by a team of music creators. The single features a combination of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.
The team running the project have clarified that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These resources will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a representative commented. “We will pursue as much as possible. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The context in the region was described as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of buildings reportedly destroyed or damaged.
“In that context, a handful of millions won't make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing that another narrative exists.”
The song is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
