Former Doctor Faces Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities have stated that a former physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

The charging documents outline the forty-five charges include:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
