Iran Reports Assault on US Base in Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
