Approximately 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast were left without power on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms impacted the state, generating wind gusts reaching over 100 km/h.

Residents witnessed giant hailstones measuring up to 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities verified that different parts across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Southern State's Climate Difficulties
At the same time, nearly 1,000 residents in the southern state also faced power outages after the capital city experienced its wettest day in a year and a half.
Rescue organizations responded to nearly 600 emergency reports across the state, primarily for building damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.
