Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from that period of 2023.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He defended four initial break points in a close deciding set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he earned victory with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
