The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Leader.
It might not have been at the identical stature as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miamiâs Little Havana neighborhood.
âThis pig is innocent. She is worthy of this pardon. She has committed zero crimes,â declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the onset of a new presidential term.
âExcept perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,â Levine Cava continued. âMay this pig enjoy a prosperous future free from concern.â
This ceremony, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of eating roast pork during the holidays, was established to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The pig, provided by a first responder, was christened after the current slang trend of young people shouting â6-7â â originating from a hip-hop line â often for no discernable reason. The trend became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently declared âsix-sevenâ its 2025 word of the year.
A Peaceful Retirement
This particular pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary âaway from grills and cookwareâ, according to the ceremony's official statement.
âThis swine clemency has become a beloved tradition to begin the holiday season,â said Eric Castellanos, in a decidedly positive message.
âIt captures the essence of Miami: happy, varied, and based in heritage that unite the community. Each year, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.â
Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and cafecito as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
