The Streaming Giant Selects Spot-On Star for Mr. 2 in One Piece Upcoming Installment
The Secret Organization is set to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, although the real showdown isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a beloved, fan-favorite member has just been cast.
The streaming service revealed Tuesday that Cole Escola will appear in the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Bon Clay. This character can use their power to change into an identical duplicate of any person they’ve laid a hand on with their main hand. The performer, who is identifies as non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a version of that character reimagined as non-binary identifying, as opposed to as a drag queen, in the real-life adaptation, as in the source material and animated series.
Escola is joined by multiple fresh additions who will portray the organization to the screen, including head Sir Crocodile, brought to life by the seasoned performer, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the lineup as the ruler of Alabasta.
Although the role is a important part of Baroque Works, the persona will be introduced in One Piece the third season. With season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this marks a notable change in the placement of their first appearance, one that could signal further changes to the plot development.
Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and emotional depth makes them a ideal selection for the character. Along with their latest vocal work in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and several accolades for creating and performing in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s most celebrated roles.
Netflix's live-action One Piece show is set to return for its next installment on the tenth of March, 2026.
